Digital Sound Level Meter Model KM 927

Sound is an oscillation of air molecules caused by pressure differences. A sound emitting source causes the surrounding to oscillate. The air transmits these pressure differences.

Frequency Evaluation by means of Filter A&C.

As the microphone accepts the sound pressure evenly within its frequency range, in opposition to the human ear, the instrument must be equipped with an additional filter to stimulate the human frequency evaluation. Thus, when selecting the A-evaluation, the sensitivity of the human ear approx simulated within the range of 100 Hz is reduced by 20 DB, the sound within the frequency range of 1000 Hz remains without modifications. It is recommended to carry out a C-Curve evaluation as shown in fig.1. When dealing with very loud sounds of low frequency.
